Veterans seeking VA disability compensation for depression often face challenges proving how severely the condition affects their daily lives. Because medical records do not always reflect the full impact of depression, supporting evidence becomes critical. One powerful yet often underutilized form of evidence is the buddy statement.

A major VA regulation change effective February 17, 2026, alters how disability ratings are evaluated when veterans use medication. Instead of considering how severe a condition would be without treatment, VA examiners must now rate disabilities based on how symptoms present while medicated. This shift could significantly reduce ratings for veterans whose conditions are controlled by medication—but remain serious beneath the surface.

A federal court has ruled that the Department of Veterans Affairs must provide veterans with clear and explicit notice when their disability claims are denied, reinforcing due process protections and transparency in the VA claims process.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has approved a historic $4.8 billion investment for fiscal year 2026 to modernize and repair health care facilities nationwide. Through the Veterans Health Administration’s Non-Recurring Maintenance program, this funding will strengthen infrastructure and ensure safer, more effective care for veterans.

Team CRC was proud to attend the IARP Northeast Chapter Annual Conference in Saratoga Springs, New York, from October 22–24, 2025. The event brought together rehabilitation professionals from across the region to explore emerging topics in vocational rehabilitation, ethics, and professional development. CRC continues to value opportunities like these to connect, collaborate, and contribute to the growth of our field.
